A Lone Monarch

She breezed in, out of nowhere it seemed
With the flutter of her regal wings
Softly she whispered as she brushed past my skin:
“It’s ok… it’s ok… it’ll be okay…”
Mesmerized, tears filled my eyes
I gasped, my breath taken away
“Is that you” I whispered?

And then just as soon as she came
she flew up again
“Wait! Come back!” I cried out
“Please stay…”

And as I started to turn away
The sun in my eyes pushing my gaze away
She came swooping down
Thru the English Ivy and around
Enjoying the flowers abound
She flapped insect admires away
Her beautiful orange wings on display

Could it be
I thought
Is it she?

Forever in my heart
You will be

A lone monarch
Flying free
